It applies to all the transnational threats we face: the climate crisis; air and water pollution; the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; the development of new technologies in the absence of agreed principles and norms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We need a more networked multilateralism, with stronger coordination between regional and international organizations, international financial institutions and public\/private alliances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We need an inclusive multilateralism, that draws on civil society, business, local and regional authorities and others, and shares power more broadly and fairly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And we need strong multilateral action now, to emerge from the pandemic safely, to address the climate crisis, and to build stronger, safer communities and societies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, as we mark the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, let\u2019s renew our commitment to global multilateral solutions that deliver for people and planet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/observances\/Multilateralism-for-Peace-day\/messages\">United Nations &#8211; International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, 24 April<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unric.org\/it\/messaggio-del-segretario-generale-per-la-giornata-mondiale-del-multilateralismo-e-della-diplomazia-per-la-pace\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE SECRETARY-GENERAL\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0VIDEO MESSAGE MARKING THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MULTILATERALISM AND DIPLOMACY FOR PEACE New York, 24 April 2021 \u00a0 \u00a0 The COVID-19 pandemic is a tragic reminder of how deeply connected we are.
