Statement by Minister Bonetti in the General Debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Press Release \u2013 CSW65 \u2013 19 March.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Statement by Minister Bonetti in the General Debate<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Date of publication: March 19, 2021<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Minister Elena Bonetti spoke today, as the Head of Delegation for Italy, at the general debate of the 65th edition of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe critical issues Italy and all Countries have faced during the pandemic have confirmed the need for an even stronger commitment to tackling the multiple causes that determine gender gaps and make them structural. From all of this, we are now called to start anew with risks and with opportunities.\u201d Quoting the Minister who went on to say, \u201cThe risk today is to turn back to an obsolete narrative that leads to a recovery with an increase in equalities and instability. Conversely, the opportunity we have is to make the recovery a moment of authentic co-responsibility among men and women, as we look to the future that awaits us as a national community. A co-responsibility that is chosen, planned, and implemented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFully subscribing to the global priorities established in the United Nations framework by the Secretary-General and at the center of debate of the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women,\u201d Minister Bonetti concluded, \u201cItaly will be active, also as President of the G20, in the promotion of gender equality, women\u2019s empowerment and leadership, for an effective and equal representation in public and private decision-making settings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CSW65 was launched on March 15, bringing together political leaders, United Nations delegates, international organizations world-wide, with the participation of thousands of representatives of civil society and the organization of more than 500 events, and will close on March 26, 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pariopportunita.gov.it\/news\/csw65-19-marzo-lintervento-della-ministra-bonetti-alla-discussione-generale\/\">Ministry for Equal Opportunities and Family \u2013 CSW65 \u2013 19 March.
