Why? Because in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, new conflicts and crises are putting women at risk again. In the past 12 months, more than 1 in every 10 women and girls experienced violence by an intimate partner. This year, Italy has increased its total financial support to UN Women, UNFPA and UNICEF, while strongly supporting programs to fight Female Genital Mutilations and Early Child Marriages. As of January 2023, I will assume \u00a0the Vice-Presidency of the Board of UN Women. I will put my role at the service of a strengthened multilateral action involving all relevant stakeholders. Within the UN, we will also monitor the implementation of SDG 5 following last July\u2019s recommendations from the High Level Political Forum, that Italy co-chaired, and in view of the SDG Summit next year.
