The United Nations and the Carabinieri will collaborate to jointly develop training programs on environmental protection. A letter of intent between the representatives of the two institutions was signed yesterday at the UN Headquarters in New York. The document was signed by Gen. C.A. Antonio Pietro Marzo, Commander of the Carabinieri Forestry, Environmental and Agri-Food Units and by Atul Khare, Undersecretary General for Operational Support of the United Nations, in the presence of the Permanent Representative of Italy to the UN Amb. Maurice Massari.<\/p>\n
The Carabinieri Armed Forces and the United Nations Department of Operational Support (DOS) will explore opportunities to collaborate in the fields of \u00a0training, capacity building, knowledge exchange, resource identification and development of funding initiatives to advance common goals for the management and protection of the environment. Collaborative actions will comply with United Nations guidelines and may take place at the Carabinieri International Center of Excellence for the Environment and Care of the Sabaudia Territory, or at other facilities in Italy or abroad, through the use of Specially constituted Mobile Training Teams.<\/p>\n
As part of the environmental diplomacy initiatives aimed at promoting Italy’s commitment to environmental protection, the Carabinieri Armed forces is hosting an exhibition on the environmental protection and conservation activities carried out by the Carabinieri\u2019s Forestry, Environmental and Agri-Food Units. The exhibition, currently in display at the UN Building in New York until May 18th<\/sup>, was organized under the aegis of Italy\u2019s Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of ‘Environment and Energy Security, with support from the Permanent Representation of Italy to the United Nations, Italy\u2019s Air Force and sponsored by Leonardo and Telespazio Spa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The United Nations and the Carabinieri will collaborate to jointly develop training programs on environmental protection.
