The position of the Government of Italy led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the Russian aggression on Ukraine is clear and very well known.
\nWe stand with Ukraine, an invaded people fighting to defend their freedom and sovereignty.
\nWe all suffer the consequences of this war that like a domino affected our societies: energy crisis, rising commodity prices, inflation, refugees.
\nAn increasing migration pressure from Africa, particularly on Italy, exacerbated by the food crisis caused by Russia’s blockade of grain.
\nThe international community has not surrendered to these difficulties, in spite of the fatigue of our public opinions.
\nWe want a just peace for Ukraine. Just peace means freedom for Ukraine.
\nPresident Zelensky and the Ukrainian people know that Italy is with them and will be with them. For them, but for Italy itself.
\nWe must protect two essential principles of the United Nations Charter: sovereignty and territorial integrity, well reflected also in the position of the G7 and in the recent final declaration of the G20 leaders in New Delhi.
\nWe must admit that something has not worked. We thought that international peace and security were taken for granted.
\nSecurity Council has been blocked for decades. The position of the Italian Government is very clear. We need a Security Council that is more fair, representative and inclusive.
\nMore representative means for us to give more chances to sit in the Council to Africa, Asia, Latin America and insular states, without however creating new hierarchies and privileges.<\/p>\n

\nL\u2019Italie, qui a accueilli en juillet le Sommet sur les syst\u00e8mes alimentaires, salue les efforts du Pr\u00e9sident Erdogan et du Secr\u00e9taire G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Guterres pour relancer l’Initiative c\u00e9r\u00e9ali\u00e8re de la mer Noire. Vous avez tout notre soutien.
\nTroisi\u00e8mement. La situation humanitaire. Nous soutenons l’ initiative du Vatican visant \u00e0 l’\u00e9change de prisonniers et \u00e0 permettre aux jeunes enfants ukrainiens de retrouver leur famille.<\/p>\n
The reconstruction of Ukraine will be one of the top priorities of the Italian Presidency of the G7 next year.
\nRussian aggression to Ukraine has reached religious sites. More than 120 religious sites, according to UNESCO, have been damaged.
\nAfter the bombing of the cathedral in Odessa, we launched an Italian project for the reconstruction.
\nOdessa was designed by Italian architects. Italy will be at the forefront of its reconstruction.
\nIt is a project of social and spiritual renaissance, you can count on Italy.
\nItaly will always fight for peace and ready to do its part. Everywhere.
\nJust yesterday, we offered to the foreign Minister of Baku and of Yerevan the city of Rome for a meeting with Armenia and Azerbaijan to discuss the situation in Nagorno Karabach.
