Italy aligns itself with the Statement delivered by the European Union on behalf of its Member States and would like to add some additional remarks in its national capacity.<\/p>\n
First of all, allow me to express my gratitude for your presentation of the report and for outlining your priorities for 2025.<\/p>\n
As we look toward 2025, you can count on Italy\u2019s steadfast support in advancing the United Nations\u2019 work worldwide, beginning with the concrete implementation of the Pact for the Future and the Global Digital Compact.<\/p>\n
At the same time, it remains crucial to uphold the UN Charter amidst ongoing conflict and instability. As Russia\u2019s illegal, unjustified aggression of Ukraine continues to impact global security, Italy calls for a cease-fire and peace talks for a just and lasting peace. In this light, Italy will host the International Conference for Ukraine\u2019s Reconstruction reaffirming our shared commitment for the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
The multifaceted tensions in the Middle East require a greater UN role and commitment from Gaza, to Lebanon, to Syria, in order to advance inclusive and sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n
Human rights shall continue being at the core of the UN agenda. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the WPS resolution and the 10th anniversary of YPS resolution.<\/p>\n
2025 shall be a year of delivery for the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n
The forthcoming Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville presents a unique opportunity to shape a renewed and more effective framework for financing sustainable development.<\/p>\n
Financing the SDGs will eventually hinge on mobilizing and pooling together funds from all sources, domestic, international public and private. Italy is scaling-up this approach, devoting key additional resources from different channels, notably with a strong focus on Africa.<\/p>\n
Finally, another key moment will be the UN Food Systems Summit + 4, which aims to further assess global advancements in food systems transformation, reinforce political commitment and accelerate action towards achieving SDG2.<\/p>\n
Mr Secretary, count on Italy engagement to support you and your team in this endeavor.<\/p>\n
