Italy fully aligns with the statement delivered by the European Union and wishes to add some remarks on its national capacity.<\/p>\n
After four and a half years of war still no place is safe in Ukraine and in its temporarily occupied territories and we commend the extraordinary resilience of the Ukrainian population.<\/p>\n
Since the beginning of this brutal war of aggression, Italy has strongly condemned Russia\u2019s unacceptable violations in Donetsk and Luhansk of the principles of international law and human rights enshrined in the UN Charter.<\/p>\n
Italy also reaffirms its non-recognition of the illegal annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, and reiterates its unwavering support to Ukraine\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.<\/p>\n
Mister President,<\/p>\n
The Ukrainian civilian population continues to bear the heaviest burden.<\/p>\n
Too many Ukrainian children remain under Russian control in temporarily occupied territories or have been forcibly deported. Every child has the right to be safe, with their families, in their homeland at all times.<\/p>\n
The indoctrination and the pressure on young people into military service are Moscow\u2019s attempts to deprive the Ukrainian people of their identity and future.<\/p>\n
Immediate and unhindered humanitarian assistance must be ensured.<\/p>\n
Italy has mobilized more than \u20ac3.2 billion in support of Ukraine, providing assistance across the areas of humanitarian aid, reconstruction, energy, and development. We will continue to support Ukraine and stand firmly alongside the Ukrainian people.<\/p>\n
In coordination with its European partners and allies, Italy will remain committed to promoting a negotiating process towards a just and lasting peace, in line with the Resolution adopted last 24th<\/sup> February by the General Assembly.<\/p>\n Ceasefire and a just and lasting peace remain our main priorities.<\/p>\n The United Nations has a unique role to play and we support all the efforts to end this war that has disastrous humanitarian and economic consequences at the global level.<\/p>\n I thank you Mr. President.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New York, 1 September, 2026 Thank you Mr. President Italy fully aligns with the statement delivered by the European Union and wishes to add some remarks on its national capacity.
