Thank you President and dear delegates,<\/p>\n
We are living in a historical moment that is not easy from a social, civil, economic and political point of view, all over the world, in each of our countries.<\/p>\n
However,<\/p>\n
I AM CONVINCED THAT<\/p>\n
this is also the right time to give our best, to testify with our work, alongside persons and families,
\nthat we cannot leave anyone behind!<\/p>\n
For this reason
\nItaly has just approved a major disability reform
\nWhich introduces the “Life Project”.<\/p>\n
The “Life Project” starts from the wishes of the person with disabilities, as required by the CRPD, and is a personalized and shared tool
\nWhich overcomes the fragmentation between health, welfare and social interventions and also simplifies the procedures for providing services.<\/p>\n
To accompany this change in approach
\nwe have also eliminated the word “handicapped”
\nfrom all Italian laws,
\nreplacing it with
\nPerson,
\nPerson with disabilities,
\nrespecting the dignity of all.<\/p>\n
I AM CONVINCED THAT<\/p>\n
we need a new look on the part of institutions,
\nOf the private world but also from individual citizens,<\/p>\n
to overcome discrimination and mere welfare,
\nto value persons,
\nto grasp the talents and skills of everyone,<\/p>\n
to evaluate the potential and not the limits!<\/p>\n
This will be the underlying theme of the first G7 in history,
\nwhich will meet at a political level in Italy<\/p>\n
to talk about inclusion and disability.<\/p>\n
Starting from October 14th, in Assisi,
\nwe will launch a message of PEACE,
\nsharing, concreteness and participation,
\nAND the square will be open to EVERYONE.<\/p>\n
I AM CONVINCED THAT<\/p>\n
only together,
\nall of us,
\nwith our actions and our proposals,
\nwith the world of the third sector,
\nof associations,
\nwill WE be able
\nto be strong and even stronger to FORCE change.<\/p>\n
I AM CONVINCED THAT<\/p>\n
Our countries must have one voice!<\/p>\n
\u2043 For universal accessibility,
\n\u2043 for everyone\u2019s right to full participation in the civil, social and political life of our countries
\n\u2043 and for the promotion of a personalized and participatory Life Project for every person with disabilities.<\/p>\n
AND THIS IS ALL I AM CONVINCED OF<\/p>\n
