The Minister for Equal Opportunities, Mara Carfagna, subscribed to the campaign “Say NO to Violence against Women”, launched by UNIFEM to support the efforts of the UN Secretary-General in eliminating violence against women by 2015.
Minister Carfagna is the first Italian Minister to sign the declaration, which counts over five million signatures among Heads of State and Government, and Ministers from over sixty countries worldwide.
In her meeting with UNIFEM Executive Director, Ines Alberdi, Minister Carfagna underscored that her signing the campaign was meant to be a political message of full support for the work of the Secretary-General in this field. This support also stems from the priority that the Italian Government has given to the elimination of every form of violence against women.
