The Italian Permanent Mission to the UN and ASviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development) have jointly launched the “Sustainability Channel” as part of the Podcast produced by the Italian Mission to the UN “Voices from the Glass Palace”.
The channel is meant to offer a virtual space to discuss the UN Agenda 2030 with guests from civil society and to foster the public’s mobilization to achieving the SDGs. “Everyone can and must do their part”, Ambassador Maurizio Massari commented, also stressing that the initiative “is emblematic of Italy’s commitment to implement the 2030 Agenda, on the path to the SDG Summit that the UN will organize in September 2023”.
“This new channel consolidates ASviS’ commitment to share its experience with an international audience and thus strengthen communication and dialogue, essential to promote the 2030 Agenda globally”, in the words of ASviS presidents Marcella Mallen and Pierluigi Stefanini.
In the aftermath of this year’s edition of the ASviS Sustainable Development Festival (Oct. 20), Andrea Bonicatti of the ASviS Operational Coordination Area, guest of the pilot episode, takes stock of the Festival’s VI edition. While spotlighting the high number of events hosted – almost 1,000, many of which were hosted by ASviS together with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and its diplomatic-consular network around the world – Bonicatti has also pointed to the significant growth of the communication and social media presence, with 20 million views recorded for the three central events of the Festival alone.
The episode aims at promoting the Festival with the UN space as a unique Italian best practice in Europe and in the world, which in just a few years has managed to bring the Italian public significantly closer to the 2030 Agenda, while fostering new partnerships and concrete initiatives.
