MESSAGE OF PRESIDENT AESI 2023 “I believe that peace is possible even today when such fierce aggression seems to obscure the paths of hope in Europe, even when there seems to be no light left to illuminate diplomacy and dialogue! But we must always strive to promote the culture of Solidarity and Peace especially in the new generations!
Yes, peace is always possible if we personally live it, seek it and prepare it together with others, before devastating weapons destroy life. Yes, we must urgently prepare the new generations to do much to prevent and act for peace, especially now! Weapons are silent in Ukraine ravaged by the violence of ideology and limitless war because it is time to find peace!
It is no coincidence that the AESI Scientific Committee wanted to give this title to the upcoming 2023 Study Seminars “Crisis and Diplomacy: Is There a Road to Peace?”
Strongly condemning the war in Ukraine, but never closing the door to diplomacy! Peace in Europe is possible for men of good will who do not make claims, but are open to dialogue without fear of risking their lives! St. Francis taught us the science and art of solidarity through silent diplomacy (not the kind sought by political outrage, in search of ephemeral successes and means to achieve one’s ambitions of power)!
Peace, Science and the Art of Solidarity begin where man and woman live together in a family, in a society and in a nation, in daily work and in international dynamics! Where justice is lived not in advancing claims, but in understanding and knowing how to serve others in politics, for a common good to be achieved together.
Materialistic and historical ideologies that have disconnected man from himself, turning him into a “nothing” or an object to be used, so too other ideologies such as hedonistic and pragmatic materialism that see success and money as a sign of good fortune, must be exposed with the truth about man, for men and women who do not disdain a freer and more democratic society!
Building and preventing is what AESI does and promotes among our young university students!”
