Thank you Madame Chair,
Allow me to highlight three critical gaps, which are crucial to be addressed in order to unleash action from the ground level up.
First, the issue of policy coherence. Aligning policies from global and national levels down to regional and local authorities and linking sustainable development frameworks to budgeting at all levels is crucial to ensure that our commitments are translated into meaningful action where it matters most.
Second, capacity, which is the engine that drives implementation. Capacity building means empowering local authorities and stakeholders through targeted investments, providing adequate training and creating spaces for enabling multilevel collaboration.
Third, measurability under the lens of policy coherence for sustainable development. This means measuring at all levels the effectiveness of the 2030 Agenda implementation process and assessing the contribution of each institution and policy to the achievement of the SDGs.
In Italy, we have supported local authorities in integrating SDGs into their own sustainable development strategies and policies and in aligning them with our national strategic framework. In 2026, Italy is planning to present its third VNR, which will integrate VLRs and youth VR, reflecting our efforts to ensure meaningful involvement of all stakeholders nationally and locally and to make sustainable development a truly shared journey.
It is with this spirit that Italy has launched the Partnership Platform on Localizing the SDGs together with UN-Habitat. A global knowledge-sharing and collaboration hub to support multilevel governance and collaboration.
In pursuing this commitment, we will continue to work with the Local2030 Coalition, on SDGs localization in intermediary cities.
At HLPF this year, 10 countries will sign their participation to the Partnership Platform.
We invite interested members and organizations to join as well.
I thank you.
