Thank you, Chair,
Mr. Acting Administrator,
Members of the Board,
Italy reiterates its commitment to UNDP and welcomes the vision outlined in the new Strategic Plan 2026–2029, whose priorities and accelerators resonate strongly with Italy’s vision for development cooperation.
Our bilateral cooperation with UNDP has grown remarkably in recent years, and we are proud of the results achieved together. The UNDP Rome Centre for Sustainable Development has proved to be an invaluable platform for dialogue and innovation, supporting joint initiatives across environment, climate, energy, infrastructure, and digital cooperation.StTA case in point is our partnership on artificial intelligence for sustainable development, in particular the AI Hub for Africa, to which we will dedicate a side event during the High-Level week during the Un General Assembly in September.
Equally significant is our cooperation in support of Ukraine. The Ukraine Recovery Conference held in July in Rome was a major success, and brought together governments, institutions, and international organizations. We are grateful for the personal participation of the Acting Administrator. On that occasion, Italy strengthened its contribution to humanitarian demining efforts in Ukraine with a dedicated funding of 1.5 million euros through UNDP.
Mr. Acting Administrator,
Italy strongly believes that UNDP remains a cornerstone of multilateral development cooperation, particularly in this challenging international context. We attach great importance to ensuring that the organization is equipped with adequate and predictable resources to fully deliver on its mandate.
We stand ready to continue to work with the program and all partners to translate this vision into tangible results, and to advance together towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
I thank you.
