Dear website visitors,
I personally welcome you to the website of the Italian Mission to the United Nations in New York. This portal illustrates the daily contribution Italy makes to the work of the United Nations – the world Organization tasked with maintaining international peace and security, the protection of human rights and the promotion of sustainable development.
The Republic of Italy upholds the principles of multilateralism enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, which are also the bedrock of our Constitution.
Our Country participates concretely, proactively and effectively in the pursuit of the United Nations’ objectives: Italy is the 7th top contributor to the UN’s regular and peacekeeping budgets; it is first among Western states committed to the deployment of peacekeeping troops; it is home to vital UN agencies and institutions, among which, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Program (WFP), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the UN Global Service Centre and the Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Brindisi, the UN System Staff College, and the UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).
You will be able to navigate our website using your computer, smartphone or tablet and follow our work also on the social networks of the Italian Mission by using the real-time “Feed” function found on our Homepage. I hope you will find this to be a useful and always updated source of information on the many activities Italy carries out at the United Nations, and at the same time, a means to interact with the Permanent Mission and its officials.
We look forward to receiving your comments or suggestions on how to make the website more and more effective – capable of offering a true glimpse into the work Italy conducts – with determination and commitment – at the United Nations to promote dialogue, cooperation, the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility. These are indispensable premises we need to face the challenges that lie ahead, even more so today as we begin “to build back better” after the pandemic.
On behalf of the Permanent Mission of Italy and myself, welcome and happy navigating!
Ambassador Maurizio Massari
Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations
