Yesterday, the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations organized the event “Italian Design Day” to celebrate Italian creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
As part of the broad program of initiatives that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been carrying out in the past years to give visibility to Italian creativity in the world, this year’s Italian Design Day focused on “Manufacturing Value – inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability”. Notably, the event brought to focus the notion of design as part of Italy’s cultural identity and placed emphasis on the quality of the Italian production system shedding a light on the aesthetic value of the objects and materials used.
The Permanent Representative of Italy, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, started the event with his opening remarks. Ambassador Massari highlighted the cultural significance of design as a means to address contemporary challenges, from inclusivity to environmental protection. Ambassador Massari also underscored how design and art can be important drivers to concretely promote the sustainable development goals set out in the 2030 Agenda.
An engaging conversation, moderated by the host of The Grand Tourist podcast Dan Rubinstein, featured distinguished industry leaders.
The event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of B&B, Flos, Foscarini, Kartell, Poliform and Torterolo & Re.
Numerous Ambassadors to the United Nations attended the event, which confirms the international resonance of Italian creativity and its impact on global culture and sustainability efforts.
