On June 7, 2024, in New York,Italy was re-elected  member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ESCOSOC) for the three-year term 2025-2027, with 183 votes out of 190 voting countries.

The re-election, which gives continuity to the current mandate for 2022-24, reconfirms the solid reputation Italy has built in multilateral diplomacy for sustainability and international cooperation, in particular consolidating the Italian partnership with developing countries and especially African partners. A reputation built over the ten mandates held so far by Italy since the establishment of the body in 1946.
