Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thank you UNICEF!
As we gather here today, we are all aware that much remains to be done, and can be done, to ensure that girls and boys, the women and men of tomorrow, “the future generations”, can truly enjoy their human rights, everywhere in the world.
To protect children’s rights, we do believe that awareness needs to be raised by all means.
Music is the best vehicle, since it can reach every corner of the world, every person. We must commend UNICEF, as well as all of you, present here today – especially the artists and celebrities -, committed to this objective.
Let us all enjoy today’s music to celebrate the Rights of the Child, also by paying tribute to a great artist, John Lennon. Let us make sure that for the children of tomorrow “the world will be as one”.
Thank you.
I am now called to introduce Dena Kaye.
